My Dad called the spring crocus flowers "Four O'Clocks" and as a child I took that quite literally; I expected at 4 pm the flowers would just snap shut. I'd watch for this to happen only to be disappointed by the gradual closing of purple and white petals almost imperceptible to the naked eye. I composed this 'suite' for the graceful closing of the "Four O'Clocks".
